Hokkaido Marathon 2026

Date and Time

2026/8/30

8:30-14:45
Start times = Wave 1 8:30, Wave 2 8:45

The Hokkaido Marathon is the only full-scale full marathon race held in the summer in Japan. The participants are a total of 20,000 people, including elite athletes and general runners from within and outside of Hokkaido, as well as from overseas. The course partially adopts the marathon course from the Tokyo 2020 Olympic Games marathon and race walk events. Starting from Odori Park, where the Sapporo TV Tower is located in the center of Sapporo, the course passes through Susukino, one of Japan's leading entertainment districts, and tours scenic spots such as the lush campus of Hokkaido University and the front of the Former Hokkaido Government Office Building (Akarenga), where the paint of the Olympic record line still remains, all while offering views of mountains and rivers.

After the race, it is also recommended to enjoy sightseeing and gourmet food such as seasonal fish, vegetables, and meat, or to recover from fatigue at a hot spring resort easily accessible from the city center.
