Nijo Market

A market with a history of more than 100 years, where the lively voices of sellers echo

Sapporo Nijo Market is said to have been established in the early Meiji period when fishermen from Ishikari Beach began selling fresh fish. In the past, the market was located on the opposite bank of the Sosegawa River from Nishi 1-chome to Higashi 2-chome, and gradually fruit and vegetable stores and taverns were gathered together to form the current form of the market. Today, the market continues to be loved as the kitchen of the citizens, and due to its location in Machinaka, it is crowded every day with tourists and travelers looking for souvenirs from Hokkaido.
