Raccoon Alley
One of Hokkaido's oldest shopping streets dating back to the days of the Japanese colonial administrators.
Raccoon Alley stretches approximately 900 meters east to west through the center of Sapporo and is lined with approximately 200 stores. Nicknamed "Raccoon Alley," it is connected by an all-weather arcade from Nishi 1-chome to Nishi 7-chome, allowing visitors to use the shopping street on rainy or snowy days without worrying about the weather. 8-chome, past the shopping street, is also sometimes called "Raccoon Alley," and is lined with chic stores that have been renovated from old buildings and traditional houses, and is full of charm. It is one of the most popular shopping streets in Sapporo, recommended for tourists and travelers alike.
