Shiranukan Town Youth Travel Village
Shiranukan Town was the first town in Hokkaido (1857) to mine coal and prospered from the coal industry. The Kamichaji area of Shiranuka Town was once a bustling coal mining town. However, the coal mines were closed in 1970. Six years later, in 1976, the Shiranucho Youth Travel Village was established in Kamichaji, a former coal mining town, as a recreational area to promote the sound development of youth.
There must be people who want to spend a quiet and relaxing time in the untouched nature, listening to the sound of the forest. For those people, we recommend the Shiranukan Youth Travel Village. It is a place where adults can return to their childhood memories and recall the days when nature was a tool for play.
