Roadside Station Ishikari "Airod Atsuta"
This is the first roadside station built along Route 231 with three floors, which is rare in Japan.
From the deck floor on the top floor, you can see the magnificent Sea of Japan and the town of Atsuta.
On the first floor, there is a buckwheat noodle shop using buckwheat flour produced in Atsuta, and on the second floor, there are four restaurants using local ingredients, including a gelato shop, a pizza shop, and a store offering a parent and child battera of herring and herring roe, where visitors can eat and drink while enjoying the view from the glass-walled eating and drinking space.
There is also a merchandising corner on the first floor with more than 600 items of Ishikari-related food and goods. How about some souvenirs or memories of your trip?
There is also a corner that introduces the nature, history, and culture of the region, and a diorama of the Kitamaebune, a ship that once sailed northward, and scenes from when the Atsuta area was prosperous with herring fishing, are on display.
