Higashi-Taisetsu Nature Museum
A base for nature and tourism in the Higashi-Taisetsu region
Higashi-Taisetsu Nature Museum is a facility consisting of the "Ministry of the Environment Nukabira Gensenkyo Visitor Center" and "Kamishihoro Town Higashi-Taisetsu Natural History Museum". While taking over the exhibits and collections of the former Higashi-Daisetsu Museum, this facility provides local information with nature and tourism.
Ministry of the Environment Nukabira Gensenkyo Visitor Center
This visitor center introduces the mountains and diverse ecosystems of the Higashi-Daisetsu region of Higashi-Daisetsu National Park using graphic panels and taxidermy specimens.
Higashi-Daisetsu Natural History Museum
The Museum displays approximately 5,000 insect specimens from Daisetsuzan National Park and around the world.
In cooperation with the Earthquake and Volcano Research and Observation Center of Hokkaido University, seismographs have been installed to display observations of seismic activity in the suburbs.

We provide useful information on sightseeing, such as lodging and hot springs, as well as information on mountain climbing and nature experiences. We also sell local specialties, so please stop by to pick up a souvenir.
