Kamishihoro Town is located in the northern part of the Tokachi region of Hokkaido. It is a town overflowing with nature, embracing the eastern foothills of Daisetsuzan National Park, the largest in Japan, with approximately 76% of its total area covered by forests. In the north, there is a range of mountains from 1,500 to 2,000 meters high, including Mt. Nipesotsu, and even the urban area is located at an altitude of about 280 meters above sea level. Access from Obihiro City is also good, and it is a location where you can feel the vast scale of Tokachi.

The climate is a foothill climate, with a lower average temperature compared to Obihiro City, and summers are very cool and refreshing. It has long hours of sunshine, even by national standards, and a refreshing climate with many clear, sunny days. The changing of the four seasons is beautiful, and you can enjoy a pleasant, slow life in harmony with the great outdoors throughout the year, from the blue skies of summer and the autumn foliage to the silver world of winter.

The key industries are agriculture, such as dairy farming and field cropping. For tourism, it is famous for "Naitai Kogen Farm," the largest in Japan; "Nukabira Gensenkyo," with its free-flowing hot springs; and the "Concrete Arch Bridges of the Former JNR Shihoro Line," a Hokkaido Heritage site. It is also known as the "Town of Hot Air Balloons," which color the sky in summer and winter, and is an attractive town that also focuses on the environment and child-rearing.
