Matsumi Bridge at Mikuni Pass
Overview
This pass (1,139m above sea level) is the highest of all the national highways in Hokkaido. A magnificent sea of trees, including Sakhalin firs, Yezo spruces, Erman's birches, and Japanese white birches, spreads out below. The deep green of the vast sea of trees in summer and the yellow leaves in autumn are captivating. The beautiful view of the sea of trees interwoven with Matsumi Bridge is also not to be missed. The rest area next to the observation deck at Mikuni Pass is also popular for its owner's signature coffee and soft serve ice cream.
