This is the highest pass (1,139 meters above sea level) on the national highway in Hokkaido. A magnificent sea of Abies sachalinensis, Ezo spruce, Dake-kamba, and Shirakaba birch trees spreads out below. The sea of trees in deep green summer and the yellow leaves in autumn are attractive. The beautiful view of the sea of trees and the Matsumi Bridge is not to be missed. At the rest stop by the Mikuni Pass observatory, the owner's signature coffee and soft-serve ice cream are very popular.
