A monument was erected by the Summer Carnival in Chonai Executive Committee on October 1, 2017, the 50th anniversary of Chonai Town's establishment, in honor of Saburo Kitajima, who celebrated his 55th anniversary in 2016.

On the face of the monument, it reads,

Seasons change, the world changes
In this hometown where I was born and raised
Our parents are still here, sleeping
Eternity, forever and ever
Thank you, Hometown, Chonai
Saburo Kitajima, 2009
