In Ainu language, with the meaning of "Marsh where gods live", this marsh is, surrounded by a primeval forest that speaks to the events of vast ages, a marsh clad in serenity and mystery.
There is no inflowing river, this marsh which consists of one inflowing river and spring water, when the time comes, many flowers including iris and Habenaria radiata bloom profusely, and plant components seep out, and the marsh becomes amber-colored water.
