HUMBE FALLS

HUMBE FALLS is located along the national road in the HUMBE district, about a 5-minute drive from Hiroo Bridge on National Route 336 (commonly known as Kogane Road) in the direction of Erimo.
The name "Humbe" means "beach where whales are caught" in the Ainu language, as whales used to strike this area in the past.
The flow of the waterfall is unusual in that it is made up of underground water gushing out and falling directly onto the side of the road, bringing coolness in summer, and in winter it becomes an ice pillar, a natural formation that is a delight to our eyes.
