Aobagaoka Park
A historical park with about 1,000 old cherry trees
Established in 1914, this historical park is located in the center of downtown Mori Town and is a popular place for town residents to relax.
About 1,000 cherry trees of 17 varieties, led by Someiyoshino cherry trees, are planted here, including some endemic species such as "Mori Komachi".
The "Cherry Blossom Festival" in May has been held since 1950 and attracts more than 100,000 cherry blossom viewers every year. The "Chestnut grove of Kayabe" in the park is designated as a natural monument of Hokkaido, and has about 130 trees, including some 200 years old, that have remained in their original state since ancient times.
