SPOT
Ustaibe Chito-iwa
As a representative scenic spot of Edasaki-cho, it was designated as part of the "North Okhotsk Provincial Natural Park" in 1968. The mysterious scenery, which looks like tatami mats laid out as far as the eye can see, is the result of a phenomenon known as "columnar jointing," which occurs when lava and other rocks suddenly cool and harden. Surrounded by ruins from the Jomon Period (about 2,000 years ago) and the Abraviation Period (about 1,000 years ago), prehistoric people would have seen the same scenery. Why don't you come and see the same view as prehistoric people?
