Furano City Museum
The Furano City Museum exhibits materials related to the nature, history, folklore, and culture of Furano City in eight exhibition sections: "Nature of Furano," "The Dawn of Furano," "Development of Furano," "Rich Forest and Industry," "Life in Northern Japan," "Furano's Taisho/Showa Period," "History of Education," and "Postwar History.
In addition, the "Furano Forest Classroom" includes exhibits on the city's familiar natural environment and observation points, as well as an exhibition corner on the late Professor Nobuakiyo Takahashi, former head of the Hokkaido Experiment Forest of the University of Tokyo, who was nicknamed "Dorokame-sensei" (Professor Dorokame).
The museum also holds special exhibitions, lectures on Furano's nature and history, lectures, observation tours, and other events, as well as collects materials and conducts research.
