SPOT
Kanemori Red Brick Warehouse
The red brick warehouses lining the bay area are a representative tourist spot of Hakodate, evoking a somewhat romantic atmosphere. Hakodate, which opened as Japan's first international trade port, is one of the city's leading tourist spots, bustling with activity regardless of the season.
The current buildings were rebuilt in 1909 (Meiji 42). Since 1988, they have been operating as a shopping mall, beer hall, event hall, and more, becoming a tourist attraction.
The seven facilities operating as the Kanemori Red Brick Warehouse are divided into 'Hakodate History Plaza,' 'Kanemori Hall,' 'Kanemori Youbutsukan,' and 'BAY Hakodate,' and are lined with restaurants and souvenir shops. Additionally, in winter, the major event 'Hakodate Christmas Fantasy' is held in front of the warehouses.
