SPOT
Kanamori Red Brick Warehouse
The red brick warehouses that stand in a row in the bay area are a representative tourist spot of Hakodate, exuding a somewhat romantic atmosphere. Hakodate was the first international trading port in Japan, and is one of the city's leading tourist spots, bustling with activity throughout the year.
The current building was rebuilt in 1909 (Meiji 42). Since 1988, it has operated as a shopping mall, beer hall, event hall, etc., and has become a tourist spot.
The seven buildings operating as the Kanamori Red Brick Warehouse are divided into "Hakodate History Plaza," "Kanamori Hall," "Kanamori Western Museum," and "BAY Hakodate," and are lined with restaurants, souvenir shops, etc. In addition, in winter, a major event, "Hakodate Christmas Fantasy," is held right in front of the warehouse.
