SPOT
Kanamori Red Brick Warehouse
The red brick warehouses that line the bay area are one of Hakodate's most popular tourist attractions, offering a somewhat romantic atmosphere. Hakodate, which opened as Japan's first international trading port, is one of the city's most popular tourist spots, bustling with activity in all seasons.
The current building was reconstructed in 1909, and since 1988 has been used as a shopping mall, beer hall, event hall, and other facilities. It has become a tourist attraction.
The seven buildings operating as Kanamori Red Brick Warehouse are divided into Hakodate History Plaza, Kanamori Hall, Kanamori Yokomonokan, and BAY Hakodate, and are lined with restaurants and souvenir stores. In winter, the Hakodate Christmas Fantasy, a major event, is held right in front of the warehouse.
