SPOT
Noboribetsu Jigokudani
This is the remains of an explosion crater, approximately 450m in diameter and 11ha in area, formed by the eruption of Mt. Hiyoriyama. There are numerous springs and fumaroles along the valley, and the bubbling, boiling scenery is the reason for the name "Hell where demons live." A variety of hot springs gush out from here at a rate of 10,000 tonnes per day, which is supplied to the hotels and inns in the hot spring town.
*A wheelchair ramp (maximum gradient 8%) is installed from the Park Service Center to the Jigokudani Observatory.
