Noboribetsu Jigokudani
This is the site of an explosion crater of about 450m in diameter and 11ha in area, created by the eruptive activity of Mt. Numerous gushes and fumaroles are located along the valley, and the bubbling and boiling scenery gave rise to the name "Oni-no-Inhabited-Jigoku (hell where demons dwell). A variety of hot springs gush out from here at a rate of 10,000 tons per day, supplying hot water to hotels and inns in the hot spring resort area.
A wheelchair-accessible ramp (up to 8% slope) is provided from the Park Service Center to the Jigokudani Observation Deck.
