Former Mashike Elementary School
In 1936, the former Mashike Elementary School, the largest existing wooden school building in Hokkaido, was moved to the hill in Miharacho overlooking the town, and for over 75 years, until March 2012, it looked after the children of Mashike. In 2001, it was designated as a Hokkaido Heritage site along with the historical buildings in the Furusato Historical Street in front of the station. One of the features of the gymnasium is the truss structure of its ceiling.
