Koume Dam
An agricultural dam built over a period of about 15 years
Koume Dam is an agricultural dam constructed in 1988 over a period of about 15 years to supply irrigation water to 3,156 hectares of fields in Bihoro Town (Hinami, Tanaka, Houtoku) and Memanbetsu, Ozora Town (Taisei, Daito, Chuo). It is a "rock-fill dam" constructed by piling up rocks and earth. It is currently managed by the East Okhotsk Wide-Area Agricultural Water Conservancy Management Council (Bihoro Town and Oku Town).
