Bihoro Pass
A spectacular view
From the 525-meter-high Bihoro Pass Observatory, visitors can enjoy a magnificent panorama of Japan's largest caldera lake, Lake Kussharo, and Mount Io-zan, which is still emitting smoke, as well as the Shiretoko Mountain Range and the peaks of the Taisetsu Mountains in the distance. Because of its beautiful scenery, Bihoro Pass is called "the best view in the world," and is crowded with many tourists every year.
Early in the morning, when looking down from high altitudes such as mountains, you can also see a sea of clouds, a natural phenomenon that looks like a sea of clouds.
