Wakoto Peninsula is located on the south side of Lake Kussharo. There are two campgrounds here, and the one located by the lake is the Wakoto Peninsula Lakeside Campground. The location of this campground is, without a doubt, the best! Overlooking the expansive lake, you can pitch your tent right on the edge of the surf.
In summer, the campground is crowded with repeaters and locals, who stay for long periods of time while enjoying canoeing and fishing. There is also a sandy beach and some lawn. There are also simple log cabin-style bungalows, which are popular with families. There is a free outdoor hot spring about 100 meters from the campground, and anyone can bathe in it.
