The third observatory is the first one you see when you head toward Lake Mashu from Kawayu Onsen. It offers a close-up view of Kamuishu Island and a different look at Lake Mashu than the first observatory. On the other side of the lake, visitors can enjoy dynamic views of the Kussharo Caldera, including Mount Io-zan, Lake Kussharo, and Mount Mokoto, as well as alpine trees such as Dake-kamba with their powerful roots.
