Located by the Sea of Okhotsk, this is a science museum themed around drift ice. The Sub-zero Experience Room recreates the -20°C world of an Okhotsk winter. 10. Okhotsk Tokkari Center Seal Land (Mombetsu City): Observe adorable seals up close.

This is the only facility in Japan dedicated to the protection and care of seals, housing dozens of animals, primarily spotted seals, along with ringed and ribbon seals. During feeding times, held five times a day, you can watch them eat and perform charming tricks, while keepers provide detailed explanations about seal ecology. The men's and women's baths, which have different designs, are swapped daily and are equipped with dry and mist saunas, as well as a cold water bath. To the west, you can see Lake Notoro and the coast of Tokoro Town; to the north, the vast Sea of Okhotsk stretches out; and to the east, you can see the Shiretoko Mountain Range in the distance. The spring water in Raiun Park is a hidden gem. It is said that snow that fell on the magnificent Mount Shari has filtered through the ground over decades to emerge here. Due to its auspicious-sounding name, "Raiun," which can be interpreted as "good luck arrives," it's said that visiting brings good fortune and makes wishes come true. 20. Piraoro Observatory (Saroma Town): A place with Ainu heritage overlooking Lake Saroma.

"Piraoro" means "place of the cliff" in the Ainu language, with "pira" meaning cliff and "oro" meaning place. The Piraoro Observatory is located on the shore of Lake Saroma, offering an excellent view of the lake.
