Kiritappu Misaki

Kiritappu Misaki (Kiritappu Cape) is officially called Toufutsu Misaki (Cape Tofutsu), and is also called Tokkari Misaki (Cape Tokkari) because Tokkari (seals) are seen here. Located on the eastern side of the table-shaped Kiritappu Peninsula at an elevation of 40 to 60 meters, it juts out into the rough waters of the Pacific Ocean and has an observatory and campground in the vicinity, making it an ideal place for relaxation.

From the observatory, you can see Hogake Iwa, where seals live, three kilometers away, and the cliffs and coastline of Boshiroto and Kakurenin over Hamanaka Bay. There is also a legend called the "Song of Cape Tokkari" at Cape Kiritappu, which tells the story of why seals can be seen here even today.

Also, Cape Yubu Cape Lighthouse, which stands at the tip of Cape Kiritappu, was certified as a "lighthouse to fall in love with" by the Japan Romantic Association on September 30, 2008.
