Cape Kiritappu
Cape Kiritappu is officially called Cape Tofutsu, but is also called Cape Tokkari because of the seals that can be seen there. Located on the eastern side of the table-shaped Kiritappu Peninsula at an altitude of 40 to 60 meters, it juts out into the rough waves of the Pacific Ocean, and there are observation decks and campsites in the surrounding area, making it an ideal place to relax.
From the observation deck, you can see the Fuukakeiwa rocks where the seals live, 3km away, and across Hama-naka Bay to the Honporoto cliffs, the coastline, etc. Cape Kiritappu also has a legend called "The Song of Cape Tokkari," and the reason why seals can be seen here is still told to this day.
In addition, the Yufutsu Cape Lighthouse, which stands at the tip of Cape Kiritappu, was certified as a "Love Lighthouse" by the Japan Romanticist Association (general incorporated association) on September 30, 2016.
