Kushiro Marshland's spectacular scenery left untouched
This area is designated as a special protection area of Kushiro Marsh. This is one of the places where the red-crowned crane, which was thought to be extinct in the 1920s, was rediscovered. The area can only be visited on foot or by horseback, and is called a marsh sanctuary because of its inhospitable nature. The meandering river is one of the important natural landscapes that form the core of Kushiro Marsh. The spectacular view and the overwhelming beauty of the meandering river will leave you speechless.
Permission from the Agency for Cultural Affairs is required to enter the sanctuary as it is state-owned land.
As a natural monument area and state-owned land, permission from the Agency for Cultural Affairs is required to enter the area. For more information, please contact the Tsurui Village Board of Education (tel. 0154-64-2050) or visit the Tsurui Dosanko Farm's marshland exploration tour.
