SPOT
Native Sakai azalea of Cape Ochishi
The southern limit for the native growth of rare and precious azaleas in Japan is the native Sakai azalea of Cape Ochishi.
The purple flowers that bloom from late May to mid-June in the 130 hectares of Ochishi Marsh, which spreads out along the wooden path leading to the lighthouse, is the only sight of its kind in Japan. It is definitely a spot to visit while walking along the wooden path, taking care to watch your step.
