Ibarasanuma
Overview
The seemingly esoteric name "Harasan" means "flat shelf" in Ainu, and is introduced in "Hokkaido Ezo Jigo Jimei Kai" (Hokkaido Ezo Language Place Names) as "a barn was built here when people lived here, and rice, sake, miso, etc. were brought in from Kan-kan. In early summer, skunk cabbages bloom, and the area is rich in nature and quiet, untouched by human hands.
It is also designated as a wildlife sanctuary, making it a paradise for animals.
