Since 1973, 95.3 billion yen has been invested as a major national project. In 1983, 222 dairy farms, including 94 new settlements, were completed and a modern dairy farming area comparable to Europe was established with 50 hectares of grassland and 60 to 70 cows per family, creating a modern large-scale dairy farming village unprecedented in the world. A modern large-scale dairy village, unprecedented in the world, was created.
From the 10-meter-high observatory relocated in 1979, visitors can enjoy the typical Hokkaido scenery of green plains, cows grazing leisurely, and straight roads stretching for miles. On a clear day, you can also see Lake Furen, Akan, and the Shiretoko mountain range.
