SPOT
Kaiyodai Observatory
Overview
It is about a 15-minute drive from downtown Nakashibetsu. Kaiyodai, a landmark of Nakashibetsu, is located on a plateau at an altitude of 270m. Looking out from there, you can see a vast expanse of grassland that can be described as a "green carpet." You'll really feel like you've arrived in Hokkaido. At night, the sky is dotted with countless stars, creating a fantastical landscape that makes you wonder if there are really that many stars in the universe.
