Urahoro is a town located in the eastern part of Tokachi, facing the Pacific Ocean. While Tokachi is often associated with agriculture, Urahoro is one of the few towns in the region that thrives in forestry and fisheries as well. Urahoro is also a well-known sanctuary for birdwatching enthusiasts. You can encounter over 200 species of wild birds throughout the seasons. Particularly in spring and autumn, you can see Natural Monuments like the red-crowned crane, greater white-fronted goose, bean goose, and white-tailed eagle, as well as endangered species like the snow goose and cackling goose, all at once.
