Population:2,800
Kyogoku is a town located in western Hokkaido, spreading to the east of Mt. Yotei, and is blessed with rich nature throughout the four seasons.
Situated within Shikotsu-Toya National Park, it borders Sapporo City to the east and Kutchan Town to the west. It is located along a route that connects bustling tourist areas such as Otaru, Niseko, and Lake Toya, and plays a role in the wider tourism sphere with attractions like "Fukidashi Park," which receives about 800,000 visitors annually.
Furthermore, the "Fukidashi Spring Water," which gushes from the ground in Fukidashi Park after rain and snow from Mt. Yotei have seeped through the earth for decades, has been selected as one of Japan's 100 Best Waters and registered as a Hokkaido Heritage site, making it popular among people from both inside and outside the town.
The key industry of Kyogoku is agriculture, centered on field crops such as potatoes, wheat, carrots, soybeans, and adzuki beans. Thanks to the fertile land and the tireless efforts of its farmers, the town is nationally known for the excellent taste of its produce.
