Population:2,200

Chippubetsu, a town with a population of approximately 2,200, is located in the northern part of the Ishikari Plain, near the center of Hokkaido. Founded in the Meiji era by Tondenhei (soldier-farmers) and their families, the town is characterized by its vast rice paddy fields. It is conveniently accessible, about a 1.5-hour drive from Sapporo and 40 minutes from Asahikawa, with the Chippubetsu Interchange on the Fukagawa-Rumoi Expressway.
The town has a continental climate with significant temperature variations, allowing residents to clearly feel the changing seasons. In spring, the water-filled paddies sparkle; in summer, green rice plants sway in the wind. Autumn brings a golden harvest season, and winter transforms the landscape into a quiet, snow-covered world. This beautiful rural scenery is the heart of the town.
The main industry is rice cultivation, producing high-quality varieties like "Yumepirika" and "Nanatsuboshi." Broccoli is also a local specialty. At the town's tourist hub, the Roadside Station "Kane no Naru Machi Chippubetsu," stands the Centennial Memorial Tower, built to commemorate the town's 100th anniversary. Its beautiful bells chime four times a day. The adjacent "Rose Garden Chippubetsu" and "Chippubetsu Onsen Yu & Yu" are also popular attractions.
