Winter Fun is More Than Just Skiing! Enjoy Snow Play That Even Adults Will Love at Takino Snow World!
Takino Snow World is incredibly spacious, with various activity areas scattered throughout. We recommend deciding what you want to do first and parking your car near that area. Be sure to check the official website in advance.
First up is the "Family Ski Slope." With a length of 250 meters and a gentle average gradient of 7 degrees, it's perfect for skiing and snowboarding beginners, as well as for young children to practice!
The two-person chairlift also moves at a slow, reassuring speed. Rental sets for skis and other equipment are also available for a fee.
We also recommend the "Sledding Hill." Here you can enjoy tube sledding, but what makes it special is its scale—one of the largest in Japan!
You get to slide down a long, 200-meter course all at once. It's sure to captivate not just children, but adults as well. The tube sleds are free to use, so it could be fun to race with your family members, each on their own sled.
Snowshoeing is another activity you can enjoy for free. You can either rent a full set of gear at the Forest Information Center and explore the "Takino Forest Zone," or rent it at the Country House and walk along the "Snowshoe Course." Walking on fluffy snow where you can't go with regular shoes while enjoying nature is a wonderful experience.
On the other hand, "cross-country skiing" might be a bit more strenuous than a simple walk. But don't worry. The courses are divided into beginner, intermediate, and advanced levels, and you can choose from different lengths for each course. Why not start with the 1km beginner course?

For young children who are not yet ready for tube sledding, the "Kids' Sledding Corner" next to the main sledding hill is a great option. They can learn the joy of playing in the snow with plastic sleds that are available to borrow for free.

Now you can see that Takino Snow World offers plenty of activities for families and beginners. It's an easy and accessible challenge for tourists from outside Hokkaido who may not be used to the snow. Of course, there are many more activities that we couldn't cover here.
Be sure to check the official website, and get ready to forget the cold and lose yourself in all kinds of fun.
