At Sapporo Satarando, located in Higashi-ku, Sapporo, visitors can experience a variety of fun activities depending on the season. This time we visited the "Winter Recreation" which was held until February 20 (*2022). Please take a look at it as a reference for next winter, as well as various other activities and events.
Sapporo Satelland is about 30 minutes by car from central Sapporo. It is also accessible by subway and bus, making it a must-visit spot for tourists from outside of Hokkaido.
Since 1995, each area has been opened one after another as the Sapporo Agricultural Experience Exchange Facility, and now boasts an area as large as 14 Sapporo Dome. Upon arrival, head first to the Satelland Center, where the reception desk is located. The building of the center is also very spacious!
You can check what kind of recreational activities are being held that day on the official website before you go, but you can also check at the reception counter here at the center.
The first activity we would like to introduce is "banana boating. Pulled by a snowmobile, the banana boat ride on the snow is an exhilarating experience! Even small children can enjoy it with adults.
For those who want a more thrilling experience, we recommend the "Norinori Tube. This is another attraction where you are pulled by a snowmobile, but it is quite a thrill to be swung around by the meandering snowmobile! Make sure to raise your voice a lot.
If you are tired of playing in the snow with snowmobiles, how about being healed by the animals? Feed the gentle goats and sheep, and your heart will be warmed by the momentary touch.
At the "Horse Sledding," the familiar "Banei Horse Racing" horses will pull a sleigh for you. Just seeing the stately, sturdy horses up close and personal and experiencing their strength is sure to leave you with a little bit of an emotional impression.
If you want to enjoy snow play for small children, "Sato no Sledzan" is recommended. They can slide down the gentle slopes on their own sleds. Building a snowman at the "Snowman Square" is also an interesting and unexpected way to see the individuality of the snowman maker.
From here, let's take a look at some of the fun and events that can be enjoyed outside of the winter season. First of all, "Butter Making Experience" is held every day in all seasons. You may be awakened to the fun of making things by hand!
The "ice cream making experience," available only during the summer, is also popular. The taste of ice cream made by yourself is exceptional!
At the hands-on farm, visitors can harvest a variety of vegetables each season. It is also nice that you can experience it without reservation.
Although held irregularly, the Farmer's Market is also recommended. It is an event to promote the harvest of the season and a chance to purchase produce directly from local farmers.
Did you know that Sapporo Satelland has a cute image character? His name is "Gun Gun". He appears at events, so let's have fun with a game of rock-paper-scissors!
Sapporo Satran Land is a large and spacious place. If it is your first visit to the park, it is interesting to take the SL bus that goes around the park and explore it. Depending on the season, lavenders are in full bloom as shown in the photo above, and you may be able to enjoy a relaxing and healing moment.
This is not all there is to see. During the summer season, various other facilities such as "park golf," "rental bicycles," "fun bicycles," "pulling horses," "horse-drawn carriages," and "Satarando market" will be open.
