At Sapporo Satoland in Higashi-ku, Sapporo, you can experience various activities depending on the season. This time, we visited the "Winter Recreation" event that was held until February 20th (2022). We will introduce various other activities and events as well, so please take a look.
Sapporo Satoland is about 30 minutes by car from central Sapporo. It can also be reached by subway and bus, so it's a must-visit spot for tourists from outside Hokkaido.
Each area was opened one after another as a Sapporo City agricultural experience exchange facility in 1995, and now boasts a site area equivalent to 14 Sapporo Domes. When you arrive, head to the Satoland Center where the reception desk is located. The inside of the center building is also huge!
It's a good idea to check the official website before you go to see what recreational activities will be held on the day, but you can also check at the center reception desk.
First, we'll introduce the "Banana Boat." Banana boats are pulled by snowmobiles and run across the snow, which is extremely exhilarating! Even small children can enjoy it together with adults.
For those who want to experience even more thrills, we recommend the "Nori Nori Tube." This is also an attraction where you are pulled by a snowmobile, but being swung around by the winding snowmobile is quite an exciting experience! Let's scream out loud!
If you get tired of playing in the snow, why not relax with the animals? Feed the gentle-looking goats and sheep and enjoy the moment of contact.
In addition, in the "horse-drawn sleigh" ride, the sleigh will be pulled by the same draft horses that are familiar from the Ban'ei horse racing. Just seeing the massive, heavy-duty draft horses up close and feeling their strength will leave you in awe.

If you want to play in the snow with small children, we recommend "Sato no Sled Mountain." Bring your own sled and slide down the gentle slope. You can also make snowmen at "Snowman Square," which is surprisingly interesting as you can get a glimpse of the creator's personality.

From here, we will introduce some activities and events that can be enjoyed even outside of the winter season. First of all, there is the "Handmade Butter Experience" that is held every day all year round. You might wake up to the fun of making things by hand!

The "Ice Cream Making Experience" is also popular, and is only available during the summer. The taste of the ice cream you make yourself is exceptional!

At the experience farm, you can harvest a variety of vegetables according to the season. What's great is that you can experience it without making a reservation.

Although it is not held regularly, the Farmers Market is also recommended. It is an event that promotes seasonal produce and is a chance to buy agricultural products directly from local farmers.

Did you know that Sapporo Satoland has a cute mascot? His name is "Gungun". He will appear at events, so let's have fun playing rock-paper-scissors!

Sapporo Satoland is very spacious. If it's your first time here, it's fun to explore the park on a steam locomotive bus. Depending on the season, you might be able to enjoy a relaxing and soothing time when you see lavender in full bloom, as shown in the photo above.
We've introduced it briefly, but this is not everything. In the summer, many other facilities open, such as "Park Golf," "Bicycle Rental," "Fun Bicycle," "Horse-drawn Carriage," and "Sato Land Market."
If you're interested, why not check out their official website? If you visit as the seasons change, you're sure to make new discoveries.
*This time, we are not wearing masks due to the special circumstances of the photo shoot.
(Sapporo Satoland is implementing the "New Hokkaido Style" to prevent the spread of COVID-19. Please cooperate in preventing infection when visiting the park.)
