A new programming course, "Pilikasupu," has been launched in Niseko!
A new type of programming course, "Pilikaskup," will start in 2022 in Niseko Town, Hokkaido, Japan. This course features a "hybrid-type course" that combines a 2-month online course and a 5-night, 6-day offline training camp in Niseko Town, Hokkaido. Students will be able to learn practical programming skills.
The online course is held on weekday evenings to accommodate the participation of working people. The training camp in Niseko will be held in September. An optional sightseeing tour of Niseko Town is also available during the camp.
We spoke with Akie Akahoshi of the Niseko Town Office, who is also a Domingo local player.
--How did you come up with the idea to hold this event?
I am in charge of "brand strategy and city promotion planning" at the Niseko Town Hall, and I think people have a strong image of Niseko as a snow resort town famous for its powder snow. On the other hand, it is difficult for people who do not engage in winter sports to recognize Niseko.
In fact, according to our survey, only 60% of women in their 20s to 40s in Tokyo had heard of Niseko, and about 40% had never heard of Niseko. Therefore, we wanted to reach out to a different segment of the population, those who do not engage in winter sports in Japan and those who have traveled to Niseko in the past.
In recent years, Niseko has also seen an increase in "immigration and entrepreneurship" in the town, and we have sensed an increase in demand for work vacations. At a time when the way of working is undergoing major changes, such as the mainstreaming of full teleworking in the Corona Disaster, the lifting of the ban on side jobs, and the three-day workweek, we wanted to create brand value as a town that is taking new initiatives in the business field. The project was proposed as "Niseko Town Programming Course with Short-term Training Camp Pilikasup.
