Stunning Views of Sapporo: A Guide to Asahiyama Memorial Park, a Local Favorite
Asahiyama Memorial Park, beloved by Sapporo citizens for its incredible views, is a wonderfully refreshing park that is sure to lift your spirits. Located on a hill adjacent to Mt. Moiwa and Mt. Maruyama, the main attraction for many visitors is the observation deck at an elevation of 137.5 meters. Let us share a glimpse of this magnificent view with you!

The endless sky stretches out above the Sapporo cityscape below. A large parking lot is also available, so it's great that you can enjoy this view without having to hike up a mountain.

On a clear day, you can see as far as the Ishikari Plain and the Sea of Japan. While the view from the observation plaza is satisfying enough, Asahiyama Memorial Park boasts a vast area of 20 hectares centered around it.

This location, which was once a ranch, went through many changes, becoming a hot spring and then a ski resort, before opening as Asahiyama Memorial Park in 1970. It was later redeveloped between 2004 and 2008 to become the park we see today.

The park is so spacious and hilly that just strolling through the grounds can be quite a workout. As you walk, you'll encounter various wild birds and flowers.

People visit with their families, bring their dogs, or come to take photographs... At night, the view from the observation deck transforms, becoming a popular spot for couples. Asahiyama Memorial Park is also a well-known local gem for its night views. The park's appearance also changes dramatically with the seasons.

There is a rest house in the Asahiyama Memorial Park parking lot. In addition to a shop and a rest area, you can find park leaflets, so first-time visitors should stop by the rest house first.

The view from the observation deck at Asahiyama Memorial Park is absolutely fantastic... but there's more to the park than just the view! Be sure to find your own way to enjoy your time here.
