This season marks the seventh year for the Jozankei Nature Luminarie. It is a popular event that uses projection mapping to fantastically color the forest at night, inviting visitors into another dimension. This project was started to let people know that Jozankei Onsen is actually located inside a national park, and to allow them to enjoy the rich natural environment.

This year, the event is limited to hotel guests only, and tickets will be distributed to those staying at hotels and inns in the Jozankei area. The area from Futami Park to Futami Suspension Bridge will be lit up from 7pm to 9pm until October 23rd (from 6pm from September onwards).

This year's theme is "WATER LIGHT VALLEY". The Kappa, the guardian deity of the forest and lake, will guide you deeper into the valley with gentle light. After greeting the Kappa King, head to the walking path of the stream of light.

The sidewalk beneath your feet sparkles and flows like a river. The ever-changing illuminations are so beautiful you can't help but stare. Can you see the fish swimming in the sparkling river?

There is also projection mapping on two large rocks along the way. The expressions change from one to the next, creating a mysterious atmosphere. Even the rock surface can become art!

The Futami Suspension Bridge is also decorated with lights, and before you know it, you yourself, standing on the bridge, are shining and becoming part of the art. The valley visible from there is also lit up with light, creating a completely different and enchanting appearance than during the day. It really feels like this is another world, separated from reality...

Everyone was enjoying taking photos at the sphere of light near the entrance. It was a quick course from the park entrance, crossing the Futami Suspension Bridge and turning back, but if you take your time to enjoy each one, you'll feel a sense of satisfaction, as if you've experienced many works of art.

Be sure to visit this place as a memorable memory of your hot spring trip. It might even be a good idea to stay overnight at Jozankei Hot Springs so you can enjoy this event!
