We will take a closer look at the charm of the "illumination that colors the forest at night" that can be enjoyed in the hot spring resort town of Sapporo!
Jozankei Nature Luminarie" is now in its 7th year. This popular event uses projection mapping to fantastically color the forest at night, inviting visitors into a different space. This project was initiated to let people know that Jozankei Onsen is actually located in a national park and to enjoy the rich natural environment.
This year, the event is being held again as a guest-only event, and visitors staying at hotels and ryokans in the Jozankei area will receive an admission ticket. The distance between Futami Park and Futami Suspension Bridge will be lit from 7:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. (from 6:00 p.m. after September) until October 23.
This year's theme is "WATER LIGHT VALLEY. It is a production in which kappa, the guardian gods of forests and lakes, will lead you deep into the park with gentle lights. After greeting the Great Kappa, head for the lighted creek walkway.
The walkway under your feet will flow with twinkling lights as if in a river. The ever-changing illuminations are so wonderful that you can't help but admire them. Can you see the fish swimming in the shining river?
Projection mapping is also used on the two large rocks along the way. They change their expressions one after another, creating a mysterious atmosphere. Even the surface of the rocks can be art!
The Futami Suspension Bridge is also illuminated, and you find yourself on the bridge shining as part of the artwork. The canyon that can be seen from there is also illuminated by the light and looks completely different from the daytime. It really is like an otherworldly place cut off from reality....
Everyone was enjoying taking pictures of the sphere of light near the entrance. Even though the course from the entrance of the park to the Futami Suspension Bridge and back is a very short one, you will feel satisfied as if you have touched many works of art if you take the time to enjoy them one by one.
Please visit this event as a memory of your trip to Onsen (hot springs). It might be a good idea to stay overnight in Jozankei Onsen to enjoy this event!
