Now in its seventh year, the "Jozankei Nature Luminarie" is a popular event that fantastically illuminates the night forest with projection mapping, inviting visitors into another world. This project was started to let people know that Jozankei Onsen is actually located within a national park and to encourage them to enjoy its rich natural environment.

This year, it is once again being held as an exclusive event for overnight guests. Admission tickets are distributed to those staying at hotels or ryokans in the Jozankei area. The illuminations light up the path from Futami Park to the Futami Suspension Bridge until October 23, from 7:00 PM to 9:00 PM (from 6:00 PM starting in September).

This year's theme is "WATER LIGHT VALLEY." The experience is designed as if the Kappa, the guardian deity of the forest and lake, is guiding you deeper into the woods with a gentle light. After greeting the Great Kappa King, you'll head towards a promenade along a stream of light.

The path at your feet shimmers and flows as if you're inside a river. The constantly changing illuminations are so beautiful you can't help but be mesmerized. Can you see the little fish swimming in the shining river?

Projection mapping is also used on two large rocks along the way. They continuously change their appearance, creating a mysterious atmosphere. It seems even rock faces can become art!

The Futami Suspension Bridge is also adorned with light displays, and before you know it, you yourself become a part of the art, glowing on the bridge. The valley seen from there is also illuminated, revealing a mysterious and alluring appearance completely different from its daytime look. It truly feels as if this place is a different world, separate from reality...

Near the entrance, everyone was enjoying taking pictures with the glowing spheres of light. Even though it's a short course from the park entrance, across the Futami Suspension Bridge, and back, taking the time to savor each element leaves you with the satisfaction of having experienced numerous works of art.

Be sure to visit to create a lasting memory of your onsen trip. It might even be a great idea to stay overnight at Jozankei Onsen just to enjoy this event!
