Learn About SDGs with Your Kids! Discover the Charms of Ecorin Village, an Ecology-Themed Garden

Located in Eniwa City, Ecorin Village is a vast ecology-themed garden spanning 150 hectares. Its magnificent grounds are filled with countless attractions! Today, we'll introduce just a few of them!

While most of Ecorin Village can be enjoyed for free, the Ginga Garden & Midori no Makiba is one paid area we highly recommend. True to its grand name, which translates to "Galaxy Garden," this garden is designed with a sense of reverence and gratitude for nature, weaving a new picture story with each passing season. Created by a world-renowned garden designer, it offers breathtaking scenery that will captivate you, even if you're not a flower expert.

The highly popular Dahlia Week runs from mid-September to mid-October. The adorable, ball-shaped dahlias are sure to bring a smile to every visitor's face. Their vibrant, vitamin-like colors are an instant mood booster!

Just as popular as the dahlias are the roses, which are in full bloom during Rose Week from late June to mid-July. The overwhelming beauty and fragrance of the roses create a colorful spectacle that announces the arrival of summer.

Additionally, during the Golden Flower Week from late April to early May, daffodils herald the arrival of spring, painting the Ginga Garden in shades of yellow. The Ginga Garden truly delights us by embracing the changes of the seasons.

After enjoying the Ginga Garden, be sure to visit Midori no Makiba (Green Pasture)! With your ticket, you can enter both facilities as many times as you like.

At Midori no Makiba, you can meet many animals, including alpacas, llamas, and miniature horses. The main attraction is the "Midori no Makiba Show." A sheepdog and its handler work in perfect harmony to guide a flock of sheep right before the audience's eyes. You'll be moved by the trust between the animals and humans, and you won't be able to help but applaud!

Furthermore, Ecorin Village is home to the "Tomato no Mori" (Tomato Forest), which has been recognized as the world's largest! In 2013, it was certified as the "World's Largest Tomato Plant," and every year, a single seed yields over ten thousand tomatoes. You can visit this attraction for free.

When you get hungry after exploring, you can dine right inside Ecorin Village! You can either enjoy a leisurely meal at a restaurant or book in advance on their website for a barbecue at the BBQ House. The restaurants are "Rakuda-ken," which serves pasta and authentic wood-fired pizza, and "Forest Restaurant Ten-Man." This time, we visited Ten-Man, located right next to the Ginga Garden.

Ten-Man is a buffet restaurant featuring roast pork from Ecorin Village and an abundance of seasonal vegetables. At a facility so deeply connected with nature, you can truly appreciate its blessings. Fill your stomach with the bounty of nature.

What we've introduced today is just a small part of Ecorin Village. There are many other activities, such as camping and craft workshops. At Ecorin Village, you can learn about the connections between food, agriculture, and the environment while having fun, making it a great place to learn about SDGs initiatives with your children. Please note that operating hours and seasons vary by facility, so be sure to check the official website before you go.
