Teshikaga Town, located in eastern Hokkaido, is famous for its sightseeing spots such as Lake Mashu, which boasts one of the clearest waters in the world, and Kawayu Onsen, known as one of the best hot springs in Hokkaido. Memanbetsu Airport is a convenient way to visit Teshikaga Town, but from September 2nd to October 30th, 2022, an airport liner will be operating between the airport and the accommodation facilities in the town for a limited time. The Airport Liner runs between Memanbetsu Airport and the Kussharo Prince Hotel and Kawayu Onsen hotels in Teshikaga Town. Time flies when you look at the scenery from the train window. When you arrive at your destination, why not start by soothing your tired feet in a foot bath?

At JR Kawayu Onsen Station, you can actually soak your feet in a foot bath inside the station. Because it's indoors, you can enjoy it regardless of the season. The tables and benches made from logs are also very relaxing. On the other hand, at JR Mashu Station, you can enjoy a foot bath in a rustic atmosphere. It is popular not only with tourists waiting for trains, but also with locals. If you use the station, it is essential to bring a towel with you.

Mount Iou, located about 1.6 km from JR Kawayu Onsen Station, is also one of Teshikaga Town's popular tourist spots. As its name suggests, the mountain is rich in sulfur, and sulfur crystals can be seen near the fumaroles.

Mount Iwo still emits powerful steam. The distinctive smell of sulfur fills the surrounding area, allowing you to experience the dynamism of nature up close.

When traveling to Teshikaga Town, you should definitely visit Lake Mashu! On a clear day, the view of Lake Mashu is spectacular. The "Mashu Blue" color, born from the lake's world-class transparency, fascinates many people.

Also, starting in the summer of 2022, the Lake Mashu Kamui Terrace will open in the Lake Mashu First Observation Deck area! The three-tiered rooftop terrace allows you to see the various natural expressions of Lake Mashu depending on where you stand. The facility also has a lounge and an exhibition corner, so there's plenty to enjoy besides the views, so you'll likely find yourself staying for a while.

Another must-see in Teshikaga is Lake Kussharo. It is the largest caldera lake in Japan, and many hot springs bubble up on its shores. There are free open-air baths and sand baths dotted around the area, so be sure to try bathing there. It's sure to be a valuable hot spring experience that's different from what you can get at a hot spring inn.

After sightseeing at the popular spots in Teshikaga Town, you can relax in the hot springs, stroll around the hot spring town, and enjoy your trip to the fullest.
