Stay in Tokachi, Hokkaido, while creating artwork! Urahoro-cho Hahaha Hostel's "Art Stay" Experience
How about an "art stay" in Tokachi, Hokkaido, while creating an artwork with an artist? The place is Hahaha Hostel, a guesthouse in Urahoro-cho. This December, "Art Stay in Winter in Urahoro Town, Hokkaido! -Creating Abstract Paintings with Artists" will be held this December, and we are looking for participants for one night and two days.
The artist who will stay with the participants is Maiko Shikato, who has her own atelier in Urahoro-machi.
Maiko Shikato
Born in 1984. Raised in Tokyo. After graduating from Tama Art University, Department of Information Design, Art Course, she studied at the Department of Painting, Silpakorn National University of Fine Arts and Music, Thailand as a research student and started painting abstract paintings. Her love of travel led her to work at a hostel in Tokyo while continuing to create and exhibit her work in Japan and abroad. 2018 SICF19 Jury Prize Winner.
This experience is about rediscovering your own "sense of comfort" that is usually dormant, and creating your own "abstract painting" together.
During your stay, you will also have time to visit Maiko Shikata's atelier and talk with her about recommended books and movies. It is a luxurious time that only an art stay can offer. The schedule during your stay is as follows.
Day1
15:00 Gather and check-in

19:00 Mini-work (self-introduction, sharing Shikato's mind, key chain coloring experience)
21:00 End of the workshop

Day2
Breakfast on your own (prepared by Hahaha Hostel)
10:00 Start of abstract painting workshop

After the stay, you can take home the completed abstract paintings as well as postcards by Maiko Shikata and Hokkaido animal key chains as souvenirs! The key chains will be colored by participants and will be one-of-a-kind.
During your stay, you can also enjoy the food. Dinner and breakfast will be prepared by Saori Kanno, COO of organic craft beer brand "RIKKA" and aroma artist.
Saori Kanno, who moved to Urahoro in October 2022, is a staff member at the organic macrobiotic cafe "Ohisamaya" in her hometown of Sendai, where she is in charge of cooking. She specializes in macrobiotic cooking and hosted a lunch event "Soup, Side Dishes, and Bread" in November 2022.
