"What are they so excited about?" The foxes are excited about the snow

Winter has come to Kita Kitsune Ranch. One morning, the northern foxes are hopping around on the piled up snow. They look very happy.

"Northern Fox Ranch" where the red foxes live

At Kitakitsune Farm ( @kitakitsunefarm ) in Kitami, Hokkaido, about 50 red foxes live. Red foxes live throughout Hokkaido and are slightly larger than the Japanese foxes that live in Honshu.

The foxes here have been raised in the zoo since they were born, so there is no need to worry about echinococcus and you can see them up close.

It's rare to see foxes with such adorable expressions and behavior. If you look closely from a close distance, you'll see that even though they're all called "Ezo foxes," each one has a different facial feature and character. Each one has a name, and is introduced on social media along with pictures.

Ezo raccoon dogs welcome winter together

At Kita Kitsune Ranch, a family of Hokkaido raccoon dogs also live. If you're lucky, you might even see a friendly scene between a fox and a raccoon dog, which you wouldn't see in the wild. And when more snow falls, the foxes seem to become even more active, diving and stabbing themselves in the pure white snow.

There are a few rules to follow when visiting. "Don't put your face close to the foxes," "Don't crouch when there are foxes nearby," "Don't put your hands out or touch them," etc. By following these rules, why not spend some relaxing time with the laid-back foxes?
