Colorful Art that Blooms in the Night: Dazzling Flowers in the Night Sky (Sapporo) and More [Hokkaido Mirai Note (75)]
From the wonderful photos of Hokkaido taken and submitted by all of you, we've selected three of our favorites to share this time!
Flowers of Light in the Night Sky (Sapporo City)
The Doshin UHB Fireworks Festival, held for the first time in three years.
The fireworks launching from the heart of the city are a spectacular sight. I wanted to capture the scene combined with the Sapporo cityscape rather than just the fireworks themselves, so I hiked up a mountain at night.
This is a view you can hardly find anywhere else in the world, right here in Sapporo, Hokkaido.

Launched over the Toyohira River in Sapporo, the Doshin UHB Fireworks Festival marks the beginning of summer in Sapporo 🎆
Many people must have been even more moved by this year's fireworks, precisely because we couldn't have them for the past few years.
Seeing the fireworks bloom so beautifully in the night sky, I'm always amazed by the perfect work of the pyrotechnicians!
Raising a Black Woodpecker Chick (Date City)
The Black Woodpecker, a protected species in Japan.
I wonder if it's encouraging the other one in the back of the nest to show its face?
It must be tough to feed three chicks equally.

The Japanese name for the Black Woodpecker is 'Kumagera,' which comes from 'kuma' (meaning 'extra-large'), as it is the largest species of woodpecker found in Japan!
They can grow to over 40 centimeters in length. Thinking about this large bird bringing food to its chicks waiting in the nest makes this such an endearing shot.🦜
A Two-Toned Bounty (Ozora Town)
This scene, like something out of a picture book, suddenly appears while driving through Memanbetsu. When I visited in July, I was able to see the beautiful two-toned fields of wheat and potatoes. It's a vast landscape that's so typical of Hokkaido.

Ozora Town is a place where agriculture is the key industry. It's particularly known for growing crops like wheat, potatoes, and beans.
This is a shot taken in Ozora Town that truly captures the essence of Hokkaido!
The view of the vast land with its fields stretching to the horizon, woven together by the vibrant colors of the crops, is simply breathtaking.📸
