A Giant Potato Attack from the Sky?! The Lamppost Struck by a "Kyodaimo" is a Hot Topic
My hometown is so rural, they haven't even been able to repair the damage from the attack of the giant potato, the Kyodaimo.

What's that wedged into the lamppost... a giant potato! The lamppost itself bears the words "Birthplace of the Danshaku Potato."
This art installation is located at "THE DANSHAKU LOUNGE," next to the roadside station in Nanae Town, about a 40-minute drive from Hakodate Station. It's a photo spot with incredible impact, fitting for Nanae, the town where the Danshaku potato was born.
The scene, which looks as if a potato fell from the sky and impaled the lamppost, has garnered comments on social media like, "It looks photoshopped," "I can't make sense of the situation," and "Are Danshaku potatoes an alien species?"
The Photo Was Taken During a New Year's Homecoming Trip
The person who posted the photo is yomoh, who is originally from Nanae Town. They make sure to return to Hokkaido from Chiba every year, and it seems this was their first visit to "THE DANSHAKU LOUNGE" during their recent New Year's trip.I think when you make them at home with regular store-bought potatoes, they tend to get soggy or burnt. But even though these potatoes seemed to have a high sugar content, the outside was crispy, the seasoning was perfect, and I was so impressed that I definitely want to go back and eat them again.

The "Kyodaimo" Poster's Immense Love for Hokkaido
yomoh was born and raised in Nanae Town and later moved to the Kansai region to study music at an arts university. We received some heartfelt comments full of local love from yomoh, who says they ultimately want to base themselves in their beloved hometown.Everyone, please come and visit Hokkaido at least once. There are so many delicious things to eat from both the sea and the mountains. Enough that I gain weight and go home stuffed every time I visit!
I truly love the land of Hokkaido where I was born and raised, and no matter where I live, I always think that I want to take my last breath while breathing in the Hokkaido air. When I create music, I often get inspiration from the atmosphere and scenery of a place, and I have no doubt that this is thanks to Nanae Town and the great northern land that surrounded me with its magnificent scenery in my childhood.
Due to the economic downturn, every time I go back, I see more and more shuttered shops and disappearing memories of beloved stores and tourist spots. Amidst this, seeing new facilities being built and friends working hard in Hokkaido makes me dream and hope that the vitality will return, even if just a little.
