Hokkaido has a castle that's like an aquarium.

A fantasy aquarium straight out of a movie! This is Noboribetsu Marine Park Nixe in Noboribetsu, Hokkaido. The central building, Nixe Castle, is modeled after a real castle in Denmark and houses 20,000 creatures.
The poster, Kabutsu-san, tours aquariums across Japan as a hobby. We asked about the story behind these photos, taken at the end of September last year.
I visited Shibetsu Salmon Science Museum, Aquarium of the Northern Land, AOAO SAPPORO, Otaru Aquarium, Sunpiazza Aquarium, Sapporo Salmon Museum, Muroran Aquarium, Chitose Salmon Park, Chitose Salmon's Hometown Aquarium,
and of course, Noboribetsu Marine Park Nixe.
Amazingly, they visited all the aquariums in Hokkaido! That's a total of 10 locations. From Otaru in the west to Shibetsu in the east... anyone who is from Hokkaido or has visited before will understand just how incredible this is.
Just Like a Castle! What Are the Highlights of Noboribetsu Marine Park Nixe?
We had the poster, who loves aquariums more than anything, introduce the highlights of the park through their photos.
The exterior is modeled after the real Egeskov Castle in Denmark. Its solemn atmosphere is so surprising for an aquarium.
This is the escalator right after you enter the building. It's a thrilling ride, as you can see sharks swimming below the handrails.
These are sand tiger sharks, which you can see in the tunnel tank. You can get an up-close look at the same sharks you saw from the escalator.

These powerful photos, which seem to convey the very atmosphere of the aquarium, make you want to visit just by looking at them. From spring to autumn, the Nixe Land amusement park is also open on weekends and holidays, making it a perfect destination for family fun! If you're interested, why not stop by?
A Message to Aquariums Across Japan
Kabutsu-san travels to aquariums all over Japan, from north to south. On X (formerly Twitter), they post photos of aquariums almost daily and share their overflowing love for them, even hosting an "Aquarium Quiz" where they identify aquariums from photos sent in the comments.
We have a message from them for aquariums all across the country.
You can truly feel their endless love for aquariums! We hope this message reaches aquarium staff all over the country! Let's keep an eye on future posts from Kabutsu-san, who continues to proclaim, "I love, love, love aquariums!"
