Inspired by the strata of Otaru soft stone
The calm and elegant exterior of the Otaru Granbell Hotel was apparently designed with the strata of Otaru soft stone as a motif. Despite being a brand-new, sparkling building, it harmonizes beautifully with the historic streets of Otaru.
The exterior is highlighted by the lighthouse-inspired rooftop bar
It fits in perfectly with its location right by the Otaru Canal. At 6 stories high with 159 rooms, it's a moderately sized hotel.
The lobby features a warm fireplace
Artworks using old photographs and maps of Otaru are scattered throughout the hotel, and the lounge space in front of the reception features a fireplace. It seems like the perfect place for a grown-up getaway.
