We spoke with the manager, Mr. Ichinoya, about the charm of Murakamiya Inn, which attracts crowds of customers not just from the local area, but from all over Japan.

How did Murakamiya Inn get its start?
We purchased this property as-is in 2018 and opened it as Murakamiya Inn. We started offering lunch service during the COVID-19 pandemic in 2020. Since there were few restaurants utilizing local ingredients, I was confident that this would definitely attract people.

Your dishes are very popular. What kind of menu do you offer?
From April to May, the "Shiriuchi Oyster and Chive Set" is popular, and from June to mid-September, the "Fresh Sea Urchin Bowl" is a big hit.
In addition, we serve wild vegetables I've foraged, fish I've caught, and Ezo deer I've hunted myself. The Roasted Ezo Deer Bowl is also available throughout the season from April to mid-September.

Could you recommend how visitors should spend their time in the area?
When you come to Shiriuchi, I really want everyone to experience this one-day itinerary: take the Yagoshi Cruise, have lunch at Murakamiya, and then relax at Shiriuchi Onsen before heading home. I hope people will fall in love with Shiriuchi.
