An "Unconventional Photographer" Who Started After 45 While Working as a Town Official
Keiichi Noro worked as a town official in Toyako Town, in southwestern Hokkaido, for nearly 35 years before taking up photography after the age of 45. His photographs, which powerfully and sometimes quietly depict Hokkaido's nature, have earned him numerous awards in a short period. He has rapidly expanded his activities, becoming one of Hokkaido's leading photographers, with permanent exhibitions and video contributions at major hotel galleries in Hokkaido.
Solo Exhibition in New York: 'Whispers of the Wild'
At his New York solo exhibition, 'Whispers of the Wild,' Mr. Noro will display a series of five photographs. This collection is themed around the Japanese aesthetic of "WABI-SABI," expressing the transience and beauty of nature through Hokkaido's serene landscapes and scenes of solitude and loneliness.
New York Solo Exhibition Starts July 16, 2024
Mr. Noro won the Grand Prize at the New York Open Call Art Incubation, which made this solo exhibition possible. Keiichi Noro's New York solo exhibition, "Whispers of the Wild," will begin on July 16, 2024. We will undoubtedly be seeing more of Mr. Noro's work both inside and outside of Hokkaido.
