Keiichi Noro is a photographer from Toyako Town who captures the natural beauty of Hokkaido. Mr. Noro will hold a solo exhibition in New York this July, and although he began using a camera after turning 45, he quickly rose to prominence and has won numerous awards. In this issue, we will introduce the world of Noro's photography, which he hopes will "help more people discover the charms of Hokkaido.

A "unique photographer" who worked at the city office and started taking a camera after turning 45 years old.

Keiichi Noro worked for nearly 35 years as a town hall employee in the town of Toyako in southwestern Hokkaido before taking up photography at the age of 45. His photographs, which sometimes powerfully and sometimes quietly reflect the nature of Hokkaido, have won numerous awards in a short period of time. His work has been exhibited permanently in the galleries of major hotels in Hokkaido, and he has also provided images to major hotels in Hokkaido.

Solo exhibition "Whispers of the Wild" in New York

Noro's solo exhibition in New York, "Whispers of the Wild," will feature a set of five photographs. The theme of this work is "WABI-SABI (Apology-Saviour)", an aesthetic sense deeply rooted in the Japanese mind, and expresses the fragility and beauty of nature through quiet, lonely scenes of Hokkaido and its solitude.

New York solo exhibition begins July 16, 2024.

Mr. Noro won the Grand Prize in the New York Open Call Art Incubation, which made this solo exhibition possible. Keiichi Noro's New York solo exhibition, "Whisper of Nature," will open on July 16, 2024. We will definitely see more of Mr. Noro's works in and outside of Hokkaido in the future.
