What is "Hokkaido Heritage"?

"Hokkaido Heritage" sites are selected with the participation of Hokkaido residents from various fields, including Hokkaido's rich nature, the history and culture of its people, and its lifestyle and industries. To date, 74 Hokkaido Heritage sites have been selected: 25 in the first selection in 2001, 27 in the second in 2004, 15 in the third in 2018, and 6 new sites plus one name change in the fourth selection in 2022.
Submit via SNS! Announcing the "Hokkaido Heritage Photo & Tanka Challenge 2024" with a New Tanka Category
The "Hokkaido Heritage Photo & Tanka Challenge 2024" is being held to express the wonderful heritage of Hokkaido through photos and Tanka poetry. From July 17 to September 30, 2024, we are accepting photo and Tanka submissions themed around the 74 Hokkaido Heritage sites. It is now possible to apply via SNS, and in addition to the existing photo contest, a new Tanka category has been established this year.
Submission Period and How to Apply
Hokkaido Heritage "Rawan Butterbur"
The submission period is from July 17 to September 30, 2024. You can apply in three ways: via SNS, email, or postal mail. For SNS submissions, follow the official Hokkaido Heritage SNS account on Instagram (@hokkaido_heritage) or X (@hokkaidoisan), and post your work with the hashtag #HokkaidoHeritagePhoto2024 for the photo category or #HokkaidoHeritageTanka2024 for the Tanka category.

Hokkaido Heritage "Wakkanai Port North Breakwater Dome"
A Grand Prize, Runner-up Prize, and Honorable Mentions will be selected for each category, with winners receiving certificates and WAON cards. The Grand Prize winner will receive a WAON card worth 30,000 yen. Why not express the charm of Hokkaido Heritage through your own creative work?
