The "Hokkaido Heritage" is selected from tangible and intangible assets to be handed down to the next generation, such as the Wakkanai Port North Breakwater Dome, Rawan Buki, and Mole Hot Springs. The "Hokkaido Heritage Photo & Tanka Challenge 2024" will be held from July 17, 2024 in connection with these Hokkaido Heritage sites. The challenge is open to all photographers and tanka poets who would like to submit wonderful photos of Hokkaido Heritage sites and tanka poems related to Hokkaido Heritage.

What is "Hokkaido Heritage"?

Hokkaido Heritage" was selected by the participation of Hokkaido citizens from various fields, including Hokkaido's rich natural environment, the history and culture of the people who have lived in Hokkaido, and their lifestyles and industries. 25 were selected for the first round in 2001, 27 for the second round in 2004, 15 for the third round in 2018, and 6 for the fourth round in 2022. In 2022, the 4th selection (6) and the name change (1) will be decided and announced.

Submissions can now be made via SNS! Tanka Division newly established "Hokkaido Heritage Photo & Tanka Challenge 2024".

The "Hokkaido Heritage Photo & Tanka Challenge 2024" will be held from July 17 to September 30, 2024, inviting entries of photos and tanka poems on 74 Hokkaido heritage sites. In addition to the previous photo contest, a new tanka (short poem) category has been established this year.
