The annual winter event, Goryo Star Dream Illumination. Due to Goryokaku Tower's opening hours, the sun sets early in the winter, so the night view of Hakodate can only be seen in the winter, and the winter illuminations created a truly spectacular sight!

The area around Goryokaku's moat is lit up, and twinkling stars appear above the ground. The atmosphere changes before and after the snow accumulates, so it's an illumination you'll want to see again and again.

A word from the Domingo editorial team In Hokkaido, you can observe red-crowned cranes all year round, but especially in February you can see them doing what is called a "courtship dance" 👀 The sight of it spreading its beautiful wings wide is both graceful and impressive. Tsurui Village has a facility where they feed the cranes during the winter, so please be sure to follow the rules and go see the beautiful red-crowned cranes!
