The annual winter event, Goryo Star Dream Illumination. Due to Goryokaku Tower's opening hours, the sun sets early in the winter, so the night view of Hakodate can only be seen in the winter, and the winter illuminations created a truly spectacular sight!

A word from the Domingo editorial team A light-up event held during the winter at Goryokaku, one of Hakodate's most popular tourist spots. The area around Goryokaku's moat is lit up, and twinkling stars appear above the ground. The atmosphere changes before and after the snow accumulates, so it's an illumination you'll want to see again and again.

A word from the Domingo editorial team In Hokkaido, you can observe red-crowned cranes all year round, but especially in February you can see them doing what is called a "courtship dance" 👀 The sight of it spreading its beautiful wings wide is both graceful and impressive. Tsurui Village has a facility where they feed the cranes during the winter, so please be sure to follow the rules and go see the beautiful red-crowned cranes!

Winter in Hokkaido It was a very cold morning the day after the new snow. I was able to take some photos of the beautiful snow scenery and the soon-to-be-retired Kiha 40.

A word from the Domingo editorial team A train running through the snowy fields is one of the highlights of winter tourism in Hokkaido. There is something enjoyable about riding through the great outdoors and looking at the scenery from the window, or watching the train run from outside. When you visit Hokkaido, be sure to take the time to travel by train and enjoy the scenery and the various towns.
