Stars on Earth: Hakodate's Goryosei no Yume Illumination & More [Hokkaido Mirai Note Vol. 115]

Welcome to Hokkaido Mirai Note, a collection of wonderful Hokkaido scenery captured and shared by you! Here are three carefully selected posts for you to enjoy. Discover the landscapes of Hokkaido that we want to preserve for the future.

Goryosei no Yume Illumination (Hakodate City)

The annual winter event, Goryosei no Yume Illumination.
This stunning view, which can only be seen in winter when the sun sets early due to Goryokaku Tower's operating hours, was a perfect combination of Hakodate's nightscape and a beautiful winter illumination!

A note from the Domingo Editorial Team
This is a light-up event held during the winter at Goryokaku, one of Hakodate's most popular tourist spots.✨
The moat around Goryokaku is illuminated, creating a glittering star on the ground.
The atmosphere changes depending on whether there's snow, making it an illumination you'll want to see again and again.

Red-Crowned Crane Pair Dance (Tsurui Village)

An affectionate pair of red-crowned cranes spotted in Tsurui Village.
They were dancing as if to show off to each other.

A note from the Domingo Editorial Team
While you can observe red-crowned cranes in Hokkaido year-round, around February you can witness their special "courtship dance."👀
The sight of them spreading their beautiful wings is both elegant and powerful.
There are facilities in Tsurui Village that provide food for the cranes during the winter, so please be sure to follow proper etiquette and go see these beautiful birds!

Train Crossing a Snowy Field (Akabira City)

Winter is the best time for Hokkaido.
It was a very cold morning after a fresh snowfall. I was able to capture the beautiful snowy landscape and the soon-to-be-retired KiHa 40 train.

A train running through a snowy field is one of the true pleasures of winter tourism in Hokkaido.🚝
Whether you're enjoying the view from the window as a passenger amidst the great outdoors, or watching the train pass by from the outside, both offer a charming experience.
When you visit Hokkaido, we recommend extending your trip to travel by train and enjoy the scenery and various towns.
