Hokkaido's landscape turns a vibrant purple

The poster, yuya, lives in Aichi Prefecture. Surprisingly, he is not a professional photographer but an office worker who enjoys photography as a hobby. He travels across Japan with his wife, capturing beautiful things that move his heart. The lavender field photo was taken during a trip to Hokkaido in July 2023. The location is Hinode Park Lavender Garden in Kamifurano Town, and this particular shot was taken around 7:30 PM, just after the light-up event had started.

Reflecting on the moment, yuya says, "The lavender field light-up began just as the sun was setting, and a fantastical scene unfolded before my eyes. I climbed to the observatory at the top of the hill and clicked the shutter."

The light-up event at Hinode Park Lavender Garden, known as "Lavender Festa Kamifurano," will be held in 2025 for 10 days from July 12 (Saturday) to 21 (Monday), between 7:30 PM and 9:30 PM. It is expected that many people will visit again this year to witness the magical scenery.
