"It's so beautiful" - Mysterious lavender field scenery becomes a hot topic "I want to swim in this ocean of lavender..."
The land of Hokkaido turns purple

Quoted from @yuya0240's post
The photo is striking, with a beautiful purple color and a sweeping view of the lavender fields, the tranquil rural scenery of Kamifurano, and the Tokachi Mountain Range in the distance. X's post has been viewed over 630,000 times and has garnered over 39,000 likes. Users have left many comments, such as "As expected of Hokkaido," "The gradation of the lavender and the sky is both beautiful," and "I want to swim in this sea of lavender..."
A spectacular view I came across in Kamifurano two years ago

"Hinode Park Lavender Garden" photographed before the illuminations began
The poster, Yuya, lives in Aichi Prefecture. Surprisingly, he is not a professional photographer, but rather an office worker who enjoys photography as a hobby. He travels all over the country with his wife, capturing beautiful things that move him on camera. The photo of the lavender fields posted was taken during a trip to Hokkaido in July 2023. The photo was taken at Hinode Park Lavender Garden in Kamifurano Town, around 7:30 pm, just after the lights had turned on.
Looking back on the shoot, Yuya says, "As the sun set, the lavender fields began to light up, and a fantastical landscape unfolded before my eyes. I climbed up to the observation deck at the top of the hill and took a picture."
Incidentally, the illumination of the Hinode Park Lavender Garden will be held as the "Lavender Festa Kamifurano" for 10 days from July 12th (Sat) to July 21st (Mon) in 2025, from 7:30pm to 9:30pm. It is expected that many people will visit this year to see the fantastic scenery.
Yuya's view of Hokkaido
Yuya travels around the country to photograph beautiful landscapes, including his hometown of the Tokai region, central Tokyo, the ancient capital of Nara, and the Japanese Alps, but he has also visited Hokkaido many times, enjoying the spectacular scenery of each season and capturing it on camera. We spoke to Yuya about the charms of Hokkaido.

Biei Town "Four Seasons Hill"
Every place in Hokkaido is large in scale, and the flower fields are particularly impressive and overwhelming. In addition to the Hinode Park Lavender Garden, my favorite photos are those of Shikisai-no-Oka and Moerenuma Park.

Sapporo "Mount Moere in Moerenuma Park"
Starting with the lavender field photos shown here, yuya has posted many other wonderful works on social media such as X and Instagram. The Hokkaido landscapes captured with yuya's sensibility, such as Shikisai Hill, where colorful flowers bloom like a rainbow, and the stairs of Mount Moere, which look like a wall reaching to the heavens, have been met with a great response.
Yuya's photos are fascinating for both locals and tourists visiting Hokkaido, and may serve as an opportunity to rediscover the beauty and depth of Hokkaido. Whether you have seen lavender fields in full bloom or not, take a look at Yuya's photos and feel their beauty.
